    Australian Aristocrat Poker Machine Emulation

Hello all. I'm from Sydney Australia and over here our slot machinea / fruit machines are called poker machines, derived from the old Poker Card machine emulation - we commonly just call them 'pokies'.

Anyway, Australia is a serious problem gambling nation. We have more slot machines in New South Wales per head than Vegas does - which is downright scary. The government makes a fortune in taxes and the pubs and clubs here have rows upon rows of the damn things making so much money they're turning into mini casinos.

Anyway, with politics aside, I want to discuss emulation of the Australian slot machines. Most of them are made by a company called Aristocrat and whilst the blighters are really bandits in machine disguise, fact is their games are so well designed and fun, they're played almost everywhere. The biggest problem with Australian law is that we cannot actually BUY one of these machines for use at home unless we have a gaming machine licence (reserved for pubs, clubs and casinos only) so most of our old machines actually end up going overseas instea (much to the angst of the average Aussie!)

As such, it's something of a holy grail to have the slot machines from Australia out there on the emulation circuit for play on the PC.

A couple years back, someone internal to Aristocrat sneaked out and spread 4 of their best slot machines on the internet (and god bless him too!!!).

This was actually the diagnostic and testing software for the machines and is a 100% authentic replication of the Aristocrat machines themselves. It's essentially an emulator along with the actual rom dumps from the machines themselves - it works just like MAME would on your PC.

    They are :

    Indian Dreaming

    Orchid

    Atlantis

    50 Lions

Now these 'emulators' are the real deal and you can download them with your favourite torrent program right here!

Now the HARD part is in finding any more of these out there on the web. Trust me, many have tried and although there's 'hints' out there of some floating about, I haven't been able to find any as yet.

One of the most sought after is this one :

So download these 4 and take a look and see what the Aussies play (and those in the USA as well from what I hear, the Aus machines are very popular there too!).

If ANYONE has any more of these machines out there - PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post up links to it here. PM me if you have them and don't want to upload and I'll do it for you.

Australian Fruit Machine Emulation is a big big area I reckon you could work on because we've just got so many of them and they're all great!!!

People are even posting up their wins on these machines on You Tube - these shots are often NOT taken from Casinos, but pubs and clubs so you can see what I am talking about!!!!

    Enjoy.

    Hi firefly

Thanks for the link I'll play with those later

I've seen that Queen of of the Nile machine, there are arcades in Dublin Ireland that have "Vegas" style machines. This was one of them, the rest were 4 line mechcanical machines.

Just looking around, these are actually quite similar to the S16 machines from Barcrest. Similar style.

I admit I have been quite disappointed with the quality of emulators out there at the moment. I'd have thought there would be a lot of emus that basically allow you to play the original ROM files like this one does. The S16s look really nice but I'm buggered if I can find any emulators out there for them.

Anyone else seen any EMUs of the same quality as the Aristocrat one here?

    Cheers

    HI

There were some s16 sims there have been no EMU's for them at this time, this emu was appreantly leaked by an employee of aristocrat, the sims were removed after some legal threats to the author from IGT\Barcrest.

    Wink Confuse

This confused me because I saw the term Australian Aristocrat, which was a contradiction in terms But the machines look pretty good - going to have a go at these in a bit

    Cheers guys.

    Lol! Aristrocrat is the company!

The aussie machines are quite similar to the S16 machines actually. A lot of lines and features quite similar. I think Barcrest sat down and had a look at the Aristocrat format and gave it a try with the S16s and they seem to have become really popular.

The Aristocrat machines have been around for quite a long time. These ones above are under version 6 format, and they're a couple years old so that gives you an idea.

These are the leak from the stables at Aristocrat and although the Oz company has been upset about the release, there's nothing they can honestly do about it. Power to the holders of the internet eh? Anyway, the link above isn't my own, it's just where I found em.

If you're downloading and wondering how to operate the dipswitches...

Firstly, when you load the emulators, dont run Mainsys.exe , run the link for the game name itself. That loads Mainsys with the correct functions.

Once the game loads it'll start beeping at you, that's because of the dipswitches present. Turn off all of them except MS7 and Touch.

Just hit the Coins button to add credits.

The buttons themselves can be a little confusing if you've never played an Aussie pokie before, essentially, the top row are how many credits you wish to bet per line.

The second row indicates the number of lines you play. Now bear in mind the machines have usually more than 9 lines (50 lions has 50, Orchid has 10, Atlantis and Indian have 'no' lines). The 9 lines thing is just legacy because the older Aristocrat games actually did have 9 lines.

So once you load up on credits, you select the number of credits to bet per line and the number of lines to play. If you want to max bet, just hit 'Bet 10 Credit' button and then 'Play 9 Lines BLACK' to spin. Pretty simple.

The Reserve/Gamble buttons allow you to Reserve the machine and Gamble a win respectively.

The Collect/Take Win buttons are pretty self explainatory.

To clear all your Credits in a machine, you click the 'Collect Take Win' button after you spin the reels and then select the 'Jackpot' dip switch (on and off).

The Indian Dreaming machine is actually tied to a Hyperlink. What they do in Australia is put a bunch of machines together in one area and have a random prize/game given out (called a hyperlink). The Indian Dreaming will randomly play this linked game. Just stop the trains with the bottom reels and once it goes back to the main screen, select the Jackpot dip switch on and off to go play again. No, you can't turn it off either

If you want to alter the settings for the machines (ie credits per 'coin', base value of credits etc) you can do it by going in via the 'Audit' dipswitch. Please back up your copy of the game though as you can alter settings in this area. It does give you a good way to play with the nuts and bolts of the machines.

On Atlantis, the feature requires that you select 5 treasure chests before you play. To do this, click the 'details' button and it will reveal a black box below - this is the software equivalent of touching the screen itself. Just move the cursor in this box and you'll see the cursor move with it on the main screen. Easy.

Atlantis and Indian Dreaming have what they call '243' paylines. Essentially all this means is that all pays scatter from the left to the right of the screen.

To get the feature in Atlantis, you need to get at least 3 pearls anywhere on screen.

To get the feature in Indian Dreaming, you need to get at least 3 Dream Catchers scattered from left to right (the TeePee substitutes for all symbols including scatters).

50 Lions has 50 paylines, it does not 'scatter' pays left to right. To get the feature, you need 3 flowers on the first 3 reels.

In Orchid, you trigger the feature by getting at least 4 ladies on the screen at one time. Orchid has 10 paylines.

All the games are pretty self explainatory once you play them for a bit. I personally find a lot of the UK fruit machines rather confusing with so much going on at the one time. The Aussie pokies tend to be more straight forward with less surprises. No, there is no skill involed - no nudges etc. The format of the games however is really good and the games are extremely well designed.

Nice to see this cleared up once and for all, they look a little like casino lo-techs, just more visually appealing.

I notice when you get a whin, you can gamble, collect, or spin on. When choosing to spin the credits do not collect, is this a refusal of the win or does it pay straight out?
